Modem maker gets serious in Europe

Local modem manufacturer Sirius Technologies has cracked the $1 million mark in exports for the month of June.

Since establishing an export division at the beginning of the year, Sirius has seen steady growth in its export sales, said Colin Dagger, general manager, sales and marketing.

Dominated by European sales, Dagger claimed Sirius' aesthetic appeal and sound technology have driven sales on the fashion-conscious continent.

The results have "raised the bar", in a month which isn't noted for its high-volume turnover. "June for Europe isn't generally a busy month, which is positive because it means we can probably do better," he saidBlazing the way was Sirius' NetComm Roadster cable modem which capitalised on the popularity of ISDN links in Europe.

Dagger said Sirius is looking to generate 30-40 per cent of its base revenue from overseas, "and that's a conservative estimate".
