Hewlett-Packard has won a $22 million, four-year contract to manage whitegood and metal distributor Email Metal's IT infrastructure.
The scope of HP's responsibilities ranges from host server and SAP R/3 basis management through to WAN communications management, business recovery systems, desktop and service desk operations.
HP's key contribution is to standardise applications and PCs across Email Metal's 60 distribution sites in Australia and New Zealand.
The agreement follows a long partnership between the two companies, which began in 1996 with HP designing Email Metal's WAN communications network.
In 1998, HP became Email Metal's selected partner for managing its IT infrastructure.
"Over an extended period HP has demonstrated a willingness to work through issues with us and develop solutions tailored to our environment. HP is a true partner," George Polus, Email Metal's Group Manager Information Services, said.
HP have also provided the whitegoods and metals distributor with financing options thus giving Email Metals greater control over the acquiring, maintaining and disposing of assets.
The complete desktop environment will be managed from HP's Melbourne data centre.
