Melbourne networking vendor, Open Networks, is rolling out a wholesale distribution strategy to coincide with the release of its new WLAN tool.
The software, iConnectWLAN, is the latest addition to its iConnect suite, which includes tools that assist in the setup of VoIP, ISDN, Dialup and DSL. The new product is designed to simplify end-user wireless network installation in the home or office.
Managing director, Derek Campbell, said it planned to launch its wholesale distribution strategy in the next couple of months.
"We have been trying to see how we can leverage the ISP relationships we have," he said.
Although Open Networks has only rolled out the software to Primus Telecom so far, Campbell said another 3-4 ISPs were on the verge of adopting the solution within the next month.
"In terms of our sales model we have just focused on the ISP markets. We sell either modems or our iConnect software to the top 10 ISPs," he said.
Primus Telecom product development manager, Andrew Sims, said iConnect was a good fit for the telco's strategy of attracting "no-fuss" customers.
"iConnect enables us to roll out our wireless solution to any customer and get them up and running in a matter of minutes," he said. "It's important to us because we need to show our customers that we can deliver a solution that is easy to use."
