IT channel research specialist Inform Business Development has recently launched its IT sales tracking program dubbed Channel Monitoring Services (CMS). CMS reports monthly sales through the channel of PCs, printers, monitors and software.
With 80 per cent of IT sales in Australia transacted via the channel, Inform has developed a data collection program in conjunction with its Reseller Panel members over the last six months.
According to Chris Herbert, Inform's research man-ager, information about actual unit sales out of the channel is collected from more than 500 resellers and 2000 outlets each month including VARs, integrators and retailers. "Other research houses gather vendor-based IT shipments into the channel," Herbert explained.
"There is no doubt that the popularity of CMS has grown out of a natural drought of this type of information available to the IT channel, and we are in the very privileged position of owning a unique reseller database," he claimed.
Herbert described the Reseller Panel as "very much a partnership where resellers provide us with information, which we reciprocate with in-depth, actionable information enabling them to gain a better understanding of the channel and ultimately progress their business".
