Digital optical outfit Traxdata has shut up its Australian office and gone home in a move that vindicates the strength of the country's channel.
The UK-based company shut its Melbourne office last week, leaving Prion to handle local distribution and field calls automatically switched through from Traxdata's old phone number. Rick Phelps, Prion's consumer sales manager, told ARN the company discovered its direct sales model for consumer CD-ROM and CD-RW business was not effective here.
"They found they couldn't operate the way they were," he said.
"It's a great thing for Prion, the product will be exclusive to us," Phelps added.
Prion is planning to formally announce its distribution deal with Traxdata on August 20.
In addition to CD recording and duplication equipment, Traxdata produces a range of accessory products including music editing and recording software kits, Video Capture MPEG hardware/software and CD labellers. http://www.prion.com.auhttp://www.traxdata.com
