Cisco's new managing director, Terry Walsh, officially assumed the post yesterday and predicted the company is set to continue its rapid rate of growth, particularly in relatively new business units.
Walsh explained Cisco's Australian service provider and small-to-medium business units are capable of up to 100 per cent growth, year on year.
Walsh returned from his final round of interviews in the US on the weekend, commenting that he is "very excited" about the role.
"It's a successful team that's going at a million miles an hour," he said.
After working with the company for four years, he commented, "I've always had the view I'd like to run it.'
Walsh was previously general manager of Cisco's service provider group.
Cisco Australia also announced late yesterday the formation of its "Asia Pacific Theatre", headed up by Richard Freemantle, who has been promoted to senior vice president, Asia Pacific Theatre.
This division of the company combines the resources of Cisco operations in Australia/New Zealand and Asia.
Other promotions formalised yesterday were Phil Belcher's post as director of Cisco's enterprise line ofbusiness for Asia-Pacific, Todd Abbott's Singapore-based role as managing director for the Asian region, and Jia-Bin Duh's Beijing-based role as managing director for the China region.
