Allied Telesyn is no longer content to wallow in the lower echelons of the networking market, last week claiming its Teltrend acquisition puts it head to head with 3Com.
Mark Jackson, the company's Australian managing director, said the recently finalised June acquisition gives its resellers access to a new range of routers.
Jackson said Teltrend's routers move the company up into the 3Com space, away from its traditional competitors such as Accton and D-Link in the low-end hub and switch market. He also claims the routers compete well against Cisco's 1600 series routers.
Teltrend already has a number of Australian sites using the routers including Transgrid and the Department of Corrective Services.
The routers will be available through Allied Telesyn's distributors which include Express Data and John R. Turks in Melbourne.
"The channel will be geared up to be able to buy through them," Jackson said.
