The time of global technical assistance has arrived on Sydney's doorstep following the unveiling of Cisco Systems' $US45 million Asia Pacific Technical Assistance Centre (TAC).
Officially opened yesterday by Senator Richard Alston, Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, the new facility will provide 24 hour technical maintenance and support services to telecommunication and government clients worldwide. In addition, the TAC will be a home to a networking and Internet technology lab for Cisco engineers.
The Sydney centre is a part of Cisco's global network of four support facilities. As such, it will provide services in over 15 languages.
