IBM has announced it will rebadge Nortel networking hardware as part of an agreement to develop server connectivity solutions.
The companies claim the partnership is designed to leverage each others' experience in the network-attached server, data interconnection, and server-to-server applications markets.
Nortel did not reveal exactly which products will carry the IBM badge headed for the enterprise customer heartland.
George Walsh, director, hardware product line, IBM S/390 Division, commented in a company statement: "Customer requirements for network-attached servers in a global e-commerce environment will drive the need for new connectivity options in the future.
"This represents a very promising relationship between our two companies," he added. The companies did not disclose the value of the arrangement.
Meanwhile, Nortel is soaking up the praise from ARN's sister publication in the US, Solutions Integrator.
The publication named the company's Accelar 8000 Enterprise Network Switch as the Best Network Hardware winner at the annual SI Impact Awards last week.
The product provides data, telephony, and video integration for enterprise campus and metropolitan area network/wide area network applications.
