Express Data is hoping that by providing online resources and services through its newly relaunched Web site (www.expressdata.com.au), resellers will treat the site as "their primary resource for doing business".
"The site provides nearly all the day-to-day needs of a reseller in one convenient location," said Express Data general manager Ross Cochrane.
Resellers are able to get access to information in real-time about recommended retail and customer-specific buy prices as well as availability. This can be obtained live off the Web site or Express Data will e-mail the exact data a reseller requires in the format that allows it to be fed into a reseller's back-end systems.
Resellers can also track the status of their orders and receive return authorisations in real time. The site also has detailed product specifications and information and if resellers still need help they can click a button and an Express Data expert will call them back.
Express Data has also developed a Licensing Expert System, which aims to take the headache out of configuring software licences, said Peter Stein, Express Data's information systems coordinator.
"We have set up a rules-based system on the Web and licensing is as easy as clicking your mouse and pointing to the products you need."
Express Data is also giving resellers the opportunity to use the Web site as the back-end to their Web store front. One reseller Voice Trend Technologies (www.voicetrend.com.au) already offers features like products specifications and price lists by tapping into the Express Data site.
"If the resellers doesn't currently have the ability to create their own Web-based pricing module we are interested in helping them bring this to market. All it takes is a valid URL and an ISP hosting service and a bit of HTML know-how," Stein said.
"I believe there are a number of mid-tier resellers who could benefit from partnering with us for developments like this."
