3Com channels partners into the SME space

3Com has created a new sales channel - the Advanced Distribution Partners (ADP) Program - to address the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore, appointing ECS Computers Asia as its first ADP here.

3Com's move is in line with the growing needs of SMEs, many of which are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and are setting up complex networking infrastructures, said Sanjiv Verma, South Asia general manager, 3Com.

Rather than simply concentrating on distributing products through its network of resellers, ADPs will also provide technical training, support, and expertise, and must have one Master of Network Science-accredited engineer per $US1 million of sales.

ECS has dedicated four engineers, and intends to appoint 10 networking partners, to the 3Com ADP program. "We can bridge the link between the end user and 3Com's high-end CoreBuilder and NetBuilder switches," said Tay Eng Hoe, managing director, ECS Computers.

"We intend to add value to our channel. With this new channel strategy, we plan to maintain our number-one networking position in Singapore and South Asia," Verma added.
