Prophecy profits from partnership

Australian software developer Prophecy International is set to realise $2.5 million in the first year of a partnership with retail software developer OAI.

The South African company will combine its front-end point-of-sale product with Prophecy's backend ProphecyOpen financials application to create an end-end retail merchandising solution.

According to Jaap Griessel, OAI's chief operations officer, Prophecy was selected on the basis of its rapid application assembly and open object framework technology, both of which allowed OAI to deliver what it considers a unique solution. "Our research has shown that we will be one of the few global software companies to offer and end-to-end retail solution," he said.

Development will take 12 months and will eventually be delivered to OAI's existing markets in South Africa, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Kuwait.

Following infiltration of these geographies, the partnership will focus on the UK and Europe, followed by the US and Canada.

Prophecy will also sell the combined products through its worldwide distributor network.
