Westcon was yesterday appointed Check Point's third Authorised Training Centre (ATC) in Australia.
It joins Com Tech Education Services and Alpha West in delivering training programs for Check Point products, with the exclusive rights to Check Point's bandwidth management solutions, FloodGate-1 and Meta IP.
Already an accredited premier partner and distributor for Check Point, Westcon's appointment puts it at the forefront of what Shelly Houghton, Check Point's channel business manager, sees as the growing markets of bandwidth and IP address management.
"These areas are set to boom over the next 18 months. The phenomenal uptake of virtual private networks, extranets and e-commerce by corporates is already placing enormous pressure on the ability of their IT teams to manage IP addresses and bandwidth allocation and this is creating significant product and services opportunity for savvy and well-trained resellers," said Houghton.
Ken Celik, technical services manager at Westcon, believes that the training on offer can transform a reseller's VPN-1 capabilities into a total enterprise solution.
To reap these rewards, Check Point had to prove its commitment. It must provide permanent training placements, facilities and laboratory configurations, maintain one instructor certified by Check Point on the latest versions of all the vendors products and have at least one Check Point engineer on-site.
