In an attempt to give its business more of a networking and e-commerce focus, Cabletron Systems last week announced the creation of a new division within the company called GlobalNetwork Technology Services.
The division is designed to bring under one umbrella its network management technologies, specifically its Spectrum network products and services as well as switching services and products for Internet service providers and large corporate customers, Cabletron said in a statement.
The division has offices in North America, Europe and Asia and plans to have its full host of services for large corporations available on a wide scale beginning on November 1, the company said.
Cabletron announced its plans to move into the sector servicing large corporations earlier in the year saying that it believed growth would come from expanding its network management software and services as well as in a converged voice/data market.
Cabletron also said it is refocusing its networking partnership with Compaq Computer, having completed a preliminary agreement two weeks ago (ARN, September 29, page 8).
