Chips & Bits yesterday became the latest distributor to join the e-commerce Web bandwagon with the launch of "Chips On-Line 2000".
The new site is integrated into the company's back-end to provide a range of services such as secure online order processing, live pricing, product catalogues, customisable downloadable price lists, account and order status, tech support and Web specials.
In making the announcement, Scott Carlile, Chips & Bits general manager, described the site as of "strategic importance".
"As more and more business moves online, resellers and suppliers will be demanding higher levels of online competency from their distribution partners," he said.
The site was jointly developed by IT&e Divisions' TotalNetPresence, Internet Access Australia and Chips & Bits' internal e-commerce development team.
