Spike chief steps down

Spike Networks chief executive officer and director C Chris O'Hanlon has resigned with immediate effect, as a result of a medical condition.

O'Hanlon has informed Spike's board members of his concerns that the medical condition he has been suffering from for some time is affecting his ability to perform his executive responsibilities in an appropriate manner. They have fully supported his decision to resign and thanked him for his contribution to the company in the past five years.

His resignation is not expected to affect the ongoing management and strategic direction of the company, according to executive chairman John McGuigan, who recently assumed responsibility for the day-to-day management of the company.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Maltz, former chief operating officer of Starbucks Coffee Company, recently assumed responsibility for the day-to-day management of the company's Los Angeles-based Spike Radio.
