Data warehousing and data management organisation e-Data Group has announced it is carrying out a strategic restructuring to take advantage of what it says is growing interest in information storage. e-DataGroup was formed as a holding company for six information management operations including Dawn Technologies, Digital Tape Solutions, e-DataCare, Akron, e-DataStorage, and e-DataServices. e-DataGroup chief executive officer Garry Humphreys believes a much larger proportion of the IT dollar will be spent on information storage in the future.
He said e-DataGroup was adapting and restructuring to be ready to take advantage of the boom. "Any company in this business that isn't seriously preparing itself now will never be ready," Humphreys said.
Through its strategic restructure, e-DataGroup aims to become a $500 million company within the next five years. It anticipates that foundations of the expansion strategy will include acquisitions and organic growth.
As part of the restructure e-Data is establishing a new project, e-DataCare.
The project will allow clients to outsource their storage, protection and recovery applications. It will include on-site services, centrally monitored and managed at a "mission control" type centre.
