LAN Systems has been appointed the exclusive distributor of Identicator hardware and software in Australia and New Zealand.
Nick Verykios, chief marketing officer at LAN Systems, believes biometrics will soon move beyond computers, to provide security access to cars, bank accounts and trading over the internet.
"Compaq, Motorola and other vendors are using Identicator's BioLogon software to move into this developing biometrics market," he said.
The beauty of using a physical feature like a fingerprint as a password is its uniqueness, Verykios said. "There's only a one in two billion chance of two people having the same fingerprint."
