CA, Xerox streamline printers, software

Xerox and Computer Associates International (CA) will integrate Xerox network-based printers and scanners with CA's enterprise management software, Unicenter TNG, the two companies announced last week.

Beginning in the first quarter of 2000, all Xerox Document Center multifunction devices and DocuPrint N series printers will be able to be managed by the CA software. With the addition of printer/software integration, administrators will no longer have to frequently switch among system- or device-specific utilities, Xerox said.

The Document Center products allow for copying, printing, scanning and faxing and are already integrated with other system software including Microsoft's Exchange, Lotus Development's Notes and Novell's Distributed Print Services, Xerox said.

As part of the integration agreement, Xerox has joined CA's Development Partner Program, Xerox announced.
