Working together key to project's success

Videoconferencing reseller Integrated Vision and visual collaboration vendor PictureTel have partnered to provide the PictureTel/Starlight Network video-streaming application 'StarLive!' for TAFE Queensland.

Integrated Vision is a Gold Reseller for PictureTel, and provides facilities management for the TAFE's videocon- ferencing. This includes a booking service, helpdesk for technical problems, and network reports.

PictureTel Australia's IP services consultant, Brad Hannagan, said PictureTel and Integrated Vision have a long-standing history of partnering on projects.

Hannagan said TAFE Queensland had a very large videoconferencing network and had wanted to extend the reach of its offering to geographically dispersed students. This included allowing students to attend videoconferences using the Internet.

The partners chose videostreaming because it suited the education application and is a one-to-many solution, with the benefits of interactivity through text-based chat and other Web-based collaboration tools.

The project, which started in July, will run until June next year, incorporating eight of the 16 TAFE Queensland Institutes.
