Oracle made a play on the enterprise application integration (EAI) game last week by announcing a set of integration tools based on the Extensible Markup Language (XML).
The Oracle Integration Server will convert data from one application into an XML message and then route the information to other systems via an integration hub, Oracle said.
The new software is also expected to include packaged adapters to Oracle's own business applications and to rival products from other vendors.
The first manifestation of a solution based on the Integration Server is the Oracle eXchange, a virtual marketplace service the company will also unveil at the show.
It will work like a reverse auction, relying on technologies such as adapters, a workflow engine, an XML transformation engine, and a publish and subscribe engine to enable dynamic transactions. By IDG staff
