The signing of Selenium Interactive as the first paying customer to Solution 6's ASP program has launched the initiative into the real world following a two month pilot program.
A web development firm, Selenium Interactive will implement Solution 6's ASP solution supporting SAP's R/3 ERP software using Centrum's eFinancials package based on a consulting template.
"The main reason for Selenium Interactive choosing Centrum was the substantial benefits that ASP solutions offer in relation to companies such as ours that are experiencing rapid growth," said Erik Franco, chief financial officer for Selenium.
Franco also liked Centrum's remote connectivity capabilities and the ASP model's system consistency. "With traditional accounting systems it is likely that issues would arise in the area of system consistency in our proposed offices in Australia and overseas."
Solution 6 has developed several other templates for various vertical markets.
This arrangement follows a two month trial period in which Solution 6 and UNICEF Australia combined SAP and Lotus modules through the Centrum program.
As well as its first customer Centrum continues to sign on partners, with consulting firm PFK Technology joining the likes of AlphaWest ERP in Western Australia, Progress Consulting in the Middle East and Druid Consulting in Singapore.
Centrum intends for these partners to add value to the core ASP offering, which in PFK's case will be IT management consulting services to small and medium businesses.
"We believe ASP's offer tremendous opportunities to the SME marketplace. As PKF Technology is an innovator in the accounting/consulting area we see that our channel partnership with Solution 6 is culturally a good fit," said Nick Pile, PKF Technology partner, who expects that the ASP model will "even out the playing field with the larger competitors."
