Highly experienced IT&T staff with business and analytics skills are in demand to cover a rapid increase in project work, according to a new report.

The IT jobs sector is celebrating a buoyant beginning to 2010 as services companies look to sign up new recruits.

In the latest Employment Expectation report by recruitment firm, Hudson, the number of IT employers looking to hire in Q1, 2010 jumped 15.2 per cent from last quarter to reach 40.8 per cent. This was the best result from all industries surveyed.

The current IT jobs market remains strong, but the number of hours worked is dropping while ageism and racism are on the rise, according to the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

IT professionals asked to do more work for less pay and fewer benefits might be able to forgive their employers' financial choices, but industry watchers say high-tech workers won't soon forget being treated poorly during the most recent economic recession and will look to find other employment opportunities as soon as the recovery gets under way.
