Windows 8 Consumer Preview offers a new look at Microsoft's upcoming interface for both computers and tablets. Is one device being shortchanged in favor of the other?

    John, If you are half way across the Windows 8 information, then you will know that you can revert back to the standard Windows view, and turn off Metro.

    My suggestion to you however is to give it a chance, as it is actually very very responsive, the live tiles are more than impressive, and the interface uses less system resources than the old interface did in Windows 7 (about 60% as much).

    This update to Windows, will enable the PC, Tablet, Phone and Notebook to have the same interface. A unified interface across all platforms means that it will be easier for all users moving forward. So rather than criticise it, with obvious ignorance, wait to see it, download the build release or read the many independent reviews on it.

    All Microsoft has to do to make a winner is allow people to turn off the lousy Metro interface and have the normal pc look and feel, I will be recomending to all of my clients they skip Windows 8 like I did for ME and Vista.
