IN PICTURES: 30 years of going mobile

August 9, 2011, marked the 30th Anniversary of the launch of Australia's first public mobile network, the PAMTS or 007 network. The country’s first mobile call was made when Telecom’s Managing Director, Bill Pollock, was driving in Melbourne and called Telecom’s Chief Commissioner, Tom May, in Sydney, officially launching the new service.
