Edimax to Showcase Next-Generation Wireless Networking at Computex 2012

May 17, 2012—From 5 June to 9 June 2012, Edimax Technology will be showcasing its newest and most advanced products at Computex Taipei 2012. This year, visitors will see the latest networking solutions for a user’s home, leisure, work and security requirements. Technologies to be featured include 802.11ac wireless devices, professional IP surveillance applications, Plug-n-View cloud monitoring, and digital home networking.

Next-generation wireless networking The new IEEE draft 802.11ac wireless computer networking standard offers high throughput WLAN on the 5GHz band, allowing for higher data transfer speeds as well as less bandwidth congestion. Edimax is taking a leading role in this new trend by introducing a series of dual-band wireless routers and USB adapters that utilize this new standard, based on Broadcom’s 5th Generation Wi-Fi (5G Wi-Fi) chips. 5G Wi-Fi leverages beam-forming technology and other innovations, which increases Wi-Fi reliability and range, while eliminating the “dead spots” that often plague current wireless networks.

The release of both 802.11ac routers and adapters means users will be able to enjoy the advantages offered by 5G Wi-Fi right away, on their current devices, instead of waiting for the gradual release and propagation of appliances with 802.11ac support built in. As a result, users will be able to immediately enjoy gigabit data transfer speeds, smoother and higher quality video, and faster data backup and synching.
