Pacen Grows With Smarter Energy Efficiency Solutions
Pacen Corp (www.pacen.com.au), an Australian systems integrator of IT security and energy efficiency management solutions, have today announced a significant expansion of their business and the appointment of a new sales manager.
Founded in 2000, Pacen has established a strong track record by offering IT security and IT help desk management solutions to government agencies and mid to large size businesses. Based in Sydney, Pacen has seen significant business growth in 2009, due to increased demand amongst businesses for energy management solutions.
As a result of recent growth, Robert Edward has been promoted to the position of sales manager, with responsibility for business development across the region. Mr Edward joined Pacen as an engineer when the company was originally founded in 2000, and has many years of experience with both security technologies and green IT solutions. An expanded technical centre is also being established in Pacen’s Sydney headquarters, with three additional engineers currently being recruited. Two of the new engineers are expected to focus primarily on energy efficiency solutions.
Robert Edward, sales manager for Pacen commented, "Everything points to a future where energy costs will rise enormously. Most businesses are looking to make every budget dollar count, and IT departments are certainly now under the gun to monitor and limit energy usage – to protect their organisation’s bottom line. Most large organisations are already trying to figure out how to move beyond tinkering at the edges, and are looking at how they can centrally control and report electricity efficiency and usage, the same way they run their other IT services. We believe most organisations will be able to save significant amounts of money by using smarter energy efficiency tools.

Aberdeen Group: Building Business Resilience Through Active Archive
One of the key data management challenges organizations often face is how to keep their archived data accessible and active, without spending the time and resources associated with primary storage. The amount of data in the archives can range from one half to 10 times the amount of data actively managed in primary storage. How can end-users gain access to historical files in a reasonable amount of time without pulling IT employees from higher priority projects? Aberdeen's research found the answer in the technologies and processes that comprise active archiving.

Today’s de facto standard controller-based Wi-Fi infrastructure model is just too complicated, too expensive, and too unreliable. It’s common for enterprise and mid-market network operators alike to get caught in a crossroads of compromises involving costs, complexity, features, and reliability.
