Symantec State of Spam and Phishing Report - March 2010
Here is the March State of Spam and Phishing Report Symantec. This report reviews spam activity throughout the month of February 2010.
A close observation of spam and phishing tactics in Asia Pacific this month revealed some interesting highlights:
• Spammers continue to leverage tragic events for their benefit, this time using the earthquake in Chile to spread malware
• Spammers are using the recent high levels of automobile recalls to trick users into giving up personal information. Spammers are masquerading as legal industry representatives, offering compensation for injuries resulting from a recalled vehicle.
• While there has been a sharp decline in spam containing .cn URLs, messages with .ru domains have increased dramatically
• Internationally, spammers have delivered malware by luring users with pictures of the Rio Carnival. Chinese spammers also sent product spam using the Chinese New Year holiday
• Brands of online auction marketing tools were new phishing targets
• In February 2010, the top ten subject lines were dominated by a mixture of online pharmacy and replica product spam

Aberdeen Group: Building Business Resilience Through Active Archive
One of the key data management challenges organizations often face is how to keep their archived data accessible and active, without spending the time and resources associated with primary storage. The amount of data in the archives can range from one half to 10 times the amount of data actively managed in primary storage. How can end-users gain access to historical files in a reasonable amount of time without pulling IT employees from higher priority projects? Aberdeen's research found the answer in the technologies and processes that comprise active archiving.
