ASI Solutions experienced a 50 per cent surge in its Intel server business during the financial year to June 30.
Managing director, Ken Lowe, said most of the growth derived from the channel, particularly computer consultants and shopfronts. The boost in sales has been attributed to the launch of ASI's Intel Modular Server, which is based on Intel Multiflex server technology.
"There seems to be an extra requirement for servers in the small business area and what it enables the channel to do is provide local support to their customers, which I think is important," Lowe said. "We also train and certify them."
Lowe said Intel had also been focusing on particular organisations in the Asia-Pacific region to help them enhance their server business.
"They've chosen a partner in every country to focus on and we're the company in Australia," he said. "Part of that program is also having same-day server availability and we're finding that's what people really want. Outside of that window, it's a five-day process to build to order."
ASI has also been broadening other parts of its business and has implemented a 24/7 service desk to support its clients. Managed services are another key focus for the next year.
"The number of seats we're managing remotely is almost doubling every year," Lowe said. "There's been a lot of demand from SMBs. The client is saving a lot of money and they're getting a better service with a lot more expertise than they would have with only one internal person."
ASI is also in the process of moving two clients into its Canberra datacentre, which was officially opened in May.
"We're providing the services and infrastructure for all the data migration, relocation and project management for those customers," Lowe said. "The datacentre is extremely green and we've been able to save up to 50 per cent on energy requirements."
