Audion Innovision brings Mustek back to Australia

Range of flatbed scanners and digital photo frames to be relaunched

Audiovisual distributor, Audion Innovision, has struck up a distribution deal with Taiwanese-based consumer electronics vendor, Mustek. Audion managing director, Boyd Dainton, said Mustek hadn’t been in the Australian market for about five years.

The vendor produces a range of flatbed scanners and digital photo frames.

“Years ago, we used to sell Mustek product. At one time we were selling six to eight containers a month of their flatbed scanners,” he said. “We’re relaunching them into the Australian market because we feel there are only very few players left in flatbed scanners but there’s still a market for it.”

Dainton anticipated the range would add at least $2 million in annual turnover.

He said the distributor had sizeable market share in the retail and dealer channels and was working with retailers on marketing campaigns to target the home user space.

Dainton said he would also consider offering a scanner and digital photo frame bundle.

Mustek sales manager, Anita Wang, said Audion offered it the ability to lift Mustek’s products profile in various retail channels.

“Audion is a well known organisation with a strong channel,” she said.

In July, Audion took on the responsibility of reintroducing the Akai brand into the local market.
