Kingston 4GB miniSDHC

With the ability to hold more than 2000 images, this memory card is designed to support next generation mobile phones and digital devices. The Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) device is available in Class 2, 4 and 6 speed ratings. It can hold about 750 digital music tracks or 4.5 hours of MPEG4 video. Each speed class designation reflects the minimum sustained data transfer rate (DTR) of megabytes per second (MB/s). For example, a Class 2 SDHC card has a minimum DTR of 2Mbps, while a Class 6 SDHC card has a minimum DTR of 6MB/s. Though identical in physical size, the miniSDHC is compatible with miniSDHC host devices only and not backward-compatible with standard miniSD-enabled devices or readers.

HP BladeSystem c3000

Dubbed 'Shorty', this blade server enclosure is targeted at smaller technology sites, branch offices and remote locations. The system can be implemented without any additional power, cooling or staff, making it ideal for the midsize market. According to HP, the c3000 also reduces the amount of time and cost to deploy new business applications. Users have the chance to save up to 30 per cent on power and cooling, while storage area network (SAN) connection costs are reduced by up to 60 per cent, according to HP. The vendor also claims it reduces cabling by up to 94 per cent which, in turn, reduces datacentre complexity. The rack-based unit features a compact 10.5-inch high design that fits up to eight blades, plugs into a standard 110- or 220-volt wall outlet and provides networking functionality.

Intermec SR61ex

This handheld cordless scanner integrates Intermec's Intellibeam EX25 near-far area imaging technology and auto focus capabilities. This allows it to read any kind of bar code close-up or at a distance, enabling customers to improve warehouse productivity, consolidate devices and reduce total cost of ownership, according to Intermec. When paired with a vehicle-mount computer, such as the Intermec CV30 or CV60, the device can read 1D, 2D, composite and postal codes, in any orientation, from 15cm to 15m away. Users can transition from scanning an object in their hands, to scanning a pallet high up on a rack or capturing an image. Integrated Bluetooth wireless communication ensures smooth data transmission to the host computer without the need for connection cables. Other benefits for warehouse operations include omni-directional scanning.

Fujitsu fi -6000NS

Fujitsu claims this is the first time it has included a network scanner among its line-up of desktop scanning products. The colour duplex device is a quick, easy way to get an organisation scanning and sharing documents, according to the vendor. Users can load documents into the automatic feeder, log into the system, type in the destination using the built-in keyboard and press the scan icon on the touch screen display. The documents will be available to the rest of the organisation within seconds as the scanner distributes documents directly to a network folder, email, or fax machine. The fi-6000NS also creates secure, searchable PDF files, allowing users to password protect their scanned documents to ensure files can only be opened by intended recipients. By distributing documents electronically, the device aims to help users save on consumable costs such as fax paper and printer paper. It also reduces the need for additional technical support, equipment expenditures and shipping costs and cuts large phone bills through its scan-to-email feature. To install the scanner, users will need to plug in the power and Ethernet cables and point the network scanner to their network and email server. The machine then works off the existing mail system address book and network security - no user profiles have to be created and maintained. There is also no need for an extra network adapter, PC or software. The fi -6000NS comes with an 8.4-inch XGA (1024 x 768) touchscreen and offers 24-bit colour, and zoom and rotate image functionality. It scans at up to 600dpi optical resolution in colour, greyscale and monochrome at duplex speeds up to 25ppm. Other features include a 50-page automatic document feeder and dual-CCD scanning arrays to consistently capture fine details in colour and monochrome.
