Blade brings on first Australian distributor

Mycom appointed to distribute the software vendor's file transfer server solution
Matthew Sainsbury 04 September, 2008 11:31:00

New Zealand-based software vendor, Blade, has taken its first step into the Australian market and struck up a partnership with distributor, Mycom.

Blade produces a file transfer solution that allows authorised users to upload and download files reliably and securely from a corporate server without installing client software.

Mycom managing director, Sam Cantwell, said the solution filled a hole in the market.

“It’s going to be a requirement for organisations with virtualised networks to be able to transfer large files,” he said.

Cantwell said the solutions complemented Mycom’s business continuity and communications portfolio.

“The technology will be of interest to businesses across multiple verticals and those with FTP solutions,” he said. “Also, as customers can personalise the product branding, large multi-site users such as government departments will be able to integrate it into their internal systems, which will eliminate security threats related to transporting files on portable media devices.”

Blade vice-president of business development, Keith Bick, said it had not had a presence in Australia before. The vendor now planned to work with Mycom to identify future non-competitive partnership opportunities.

“The appointment of Mycom to drive distribution is in effect the launch of Blade File Transfer System to the Australian reseller channel,” he said. “Mycom is focused on providing continuity and communications solutions to Australian businesses. Blade sees its file transfer solution as one that fits well with Mycom’s expanding portfolio.”
