Melbourne retailer goes into receivership

Melbourne-based retailer, Tecs Computer Source, has gone into receivership.

Chartered accountants, RSM Bird Cameron, were appointed receivers on October 3, by secured creditor, Westpac Banking Corporation.

Tec's managing director, Joe Lin, was contacted but refused to comment on the reasons for its demise.

According to the receiver, Terry Sandy, both of Tecs Computer Source's stores in Melbourne have ceased trading and a review of the company's position is underway.

Sandy said the receivers will also be looking at the potential of selling the business.

Multimedia Technology managing director, John Hassall, said Tecs had been a good, long-term customer for 18 years. Multimedia is reportedly owed $15,000.

“I find it a bit sad that we’re loosing these types of businesses in the market,” he said. Anyware Computer Accessories is also a creditor and is owed about $27,000.

Tecs occupied two shopfront locations in North Melbourne and Box Hill. According to its website, the company’s retail outlets supplied a range of custom-built computers, peripherals and components such as printers, scanners, mass storage devices, memory modules, processors, motherboards, networking devices and multimedia equipment.
