Polycom launches VoIP program
Telephony vendor, Polycom, has launched a VoIP Field Verified (VFV) program for the Asia-Pacific region to boost compatibility.
The VFV program recognises SIP-based call control providers that have successfully integrated Polycom VoIP phones with their call control platforms.
Polycom voice sales director, Peter White, said the program’s aim was to encourage interoperability between resellers.
“Through the program we make sure our phones are compatible with a partner’s program,” White said. “In the US we offer testing for compatibility, there’s a charge involved and we have a much closer relationship with the partner. However, we’ve found local partners sometimes find the charge an issue, so the VFV program has been developed to recognise those partners.”
White said end-users would benefit most from the program, as it gave them a list to find platforms that supported the Polycom product.
The first partner to join the VFV program was Hong Kong-based Deltapath Commerce and Technology.
White said the vendor was still trying to determine how many local partners are candidates to join the program.
