SYDNEY, Australia – 17 June 2008 – To help customers further address their encryption needs, NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) has joined the Oracle Enterprise Security and Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Initiative. By working closely with Oracle, NetApp will be better positioned to offer Oracle customers its proven NetApp® Lifetime Key ManagementTM technology, helping them meet regulatory compliance requirements and protect intellectual property.
Enterprises today face a growing array of compliance requirements such as PCI, HIPAA, SB1386, and the EU Data Directive. In addition to external pressure from regulations, organisations also face internal drivers to protect intellectual property and other sensitive information. Recent publicised instances of enterprises losing data have only heightened the importance of maintaining secure corporate databases. NetApp is helping to address this important customer issue by expanding the reach of its established Lifetime Key Management system, a FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certified hardware-based key management system with which customers can centrally and securely store, back up, and replicate cryptographic keys.
Available to select members of the Oracle PartnerNetwork who deliver security and/or compliance solutions or services complementary to Oracle's, the Oracle Enterprise Security and GRC Initiative creates a partner ecosystem offering world-class, integrated, comprehensive solutions and services for access control, data protection and privacy, and compliance management, based on Oracle® applications and infrastructure software.
“NetApp and Oracle share a long-standing relationship and, as a result, numerous joint customers,” said Vipin Samar, vice president of Database Security, Oracle. “We look forward to working with NetApp to integrate their key management products with Oracle Database 11g™ and the transparent data encryption capabilities of the Oracle Advanced Security option to meet our customers’ key management requirements.”
“Enterprises today must integrate and manage encryption capabilities from many sources, and our customers have made it clear that unified security is a priority for them,” said Tim Russell, vice president and general manager of the Archive, Compliance, and Storage Security business unit at NetApp. “NetApp is pleased to work with Oracle on enterprise security and GRC initiatives to offer joint customers a proven key management system to address their security and compliance needs.”
