Helen Yeatman 02 March, 2004 07:30:30

Dimension Data has expanded its array of security services, announcing the launch of its new firewall management and vulnerability assessment services.

The systems integrator will offer firewall management services such as 24x7 secure device management, client usage and performance reporting, firewall policy development, implementation and maintenance and change requests.

Previously, DiData’s vulnerability assessment services were a one-off consultation. The company now offers a quarterly assessment of clients’ sites for which the client pays an annual fee.

The new services suite is targeted at companies with between 1000 and 5000 users.

Chief technology officer at Dimension Data, Gerard Florian, said the integrator intended to add additional managed security services in the future, in the areas of antivirus, antispam, intrusion detection/prevention and event correlation.

“We chose to focus on firewall management services first because, from a networking point of view, firewalls have been our strength," he said.

Dimension Data's Managed Security Services will be controlled from its newly-expanded Security Operations Centre in Melbourne Pricing is based on a minimum three-year contract with a monthly subscription service fee.

Fees for the base services start at less than $2000 per month.

Dimension Data has already rolled out similar managed security service offerings in Europe, the US and South Africa.
