DiData Dragons get a rowing start
Dimension Data's Dragon boat racing team, the DD Dragons, recently gathered at Darling Harbour to compete in this year's Chinese New Year Races. The team, in navy uniforms, raced against 100 other contenders in front of a 2000-strong crowd. The race consisted of three heats. In heat one, the DD Dragons rowed into second place, while heat two saw them steal first place. The DD Dragons managed to come second with IBM slipping in behind them in third position in the Industry challenge race. In the Finals race, DD Dragons came in fourth, 0.3 seconds behind the winner, IBM.
It was the first time the DD Dragons team had competed together in a 12m long, 400kg boat across a choppy 250m course. The team had spent two months undertaking disciplined training around timing and technique. The DD Dragons are now warming up for the NSW Corporate Games in March. The event will be held at the Nepean Rowing club on Penrith Lakes.
