Wireless Tech enters Australian market
Wireless Tech Group has brought its specialist distribution model to Australia with plans to capitalise on the rising popularity of mobility technologies.
Sales and application consultant, Eric Gagnaux, said the company, which is headquartered in Singapore, had decided to establish a foothold in Australia as part of growing its presence in the region. It has set up a head office and warehouse in Sydney, as well as a sales office in Melbourne.
Wireless Tech is carrying five complementary products, most of which stem from regional partnerships. These include mesh networking technologies from Tropos Networks and newly announced local vendor partner, Strix Systems, to billing and authentication system producer, IP3 Networks. It is also offering Motorola's Canopy wireless broadband platform and VoIP multi-path technologies from Quintum Technologies.
Gagnaux said the key to its business was providing a pre-packaged wireless offering to its wider channel. These could be used by partners as a hardware base on which to build additional services.
"All of our products can be used together," he said. "Our channel packs include at least two or three of these products. A wireless ISP for example, might be looking to deploy wireless infrastructure, which can be done with Canopy. Then they can manage subscribers with an IP3 gateway. If they want to provide VoIP, there is Quintum."
In addition, the distributor could tailor packages to suit various network needs, such as covering nodes or including wireless IP phones, Gagnaux said.
However, its initial focus would be to push the lesser known brands in Australia, such as Strix Systems and Tropos, he said.
The wholesaler is now on the hunt for resellers. While open to all kinds of players, Gagnaux said he was keen to hear from those already working in vertical markets that could benefit from wireless technology, such as hospitality, education, healthcare and mining.
"If they have a wireless background, it is better, but if not we can teach resellers about the technology," he said. "That's what we're here for."
