Mio DigiWalker A702

The A702 is an all-in-one device which combines the functionality of a PDA, GPS and 3.2 megapixel camera with basic phone features. It comes with Windows Mobile 6 Professional, Sensis WhereIs R14 mapping software with 500,000 points of interest, a dedicated media processor to maximise video and audio content, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and a sensitive SiRFstarIII GPD chipset receiver. The phone also has a keyboard function to provide users with the choice between letter recognition and using the keyboard with the stylus. The camera has autofocus and an LED flash built in. Mio claims the DigiWalker's GPS functionality is fast and reliable thanks to the 20-channel SiRFstarIII GPS receiver, which is equipped with quick position technology, improving GPS start-up times. The GPS will give turn by turn directions, visualised directions and detailed maps, and highlights restaurants, bars and petrol stations.

Oki B6500

Oki has extended its B6000 series mono printer range with the addition of the B6500. The new printers have a fast first print time of eight seconds, with average print speeds of 43 pages per minute. With 1200 x 1200 dpi print quality, B6500 printers are designed for producing professional quality graphics and diagrams. Increased memory and processor speed makes these models good for work groups of up to 30 people. The two models available are the B6500n (networked) and B6500dn (duplex and networked). Both come with free utilities such as Ask Oki, Template Manager 2006 and PrintSuperVision, designed to make it easy for users and network administrators to create, manage and control documents and printers. The printers have a secure print utility, requiring a password and hard-disk delayed printing to help provide greater printer security, and they are supported by a wide range of Oki accessories, including hard disk drives and additional paper trays.

GFI MailEssentials

MailEssentials is aimed at combating a new wave of MP3 spam that has recently become a problem for online security, according to GFI. Using second-generation Bayesian filtering technology, MailEssentials employs mathematical approaches to spam detection, which is continuously updated by GFI and automatically downloaded by MailEssentials. GFI claims this results in a 98 per cent spam detection rate. The software is good for preventing phishing, as well as catching traditionally difficult spam forms such as PDFs, Excel and ZIP files. Users can also set up "whitelisting", automatically allowing emails from nominated senders through and preventing them from ever being flagged as spam. The software holds Checkmark certification from West Coast Labs and is designed to work in combination with GFI MailSecurity suite, which is an email checking, exploit detection, threat analysis and antivirus solution designed to remove all types of email threats before they can affect users.

The Thermaltake DH102 is a digital home theatre PC chassis that can be used as a DVD media player, TV recorder and for games and Web browsing. It comes with an aluminium piano mirror coating and a 7-inch touchscreen LCD display. Software and double screen display technology means users can control media functions such as music, movies and photos, as well as get information such as daily news, weather, PC status and use email. With an Internet connection, this information is easily displayed and accessed via the LCD display, which also has built-in Media Lab, 10 hot key buttons and a volume control knob. Samsung SyncMaster XL20

Samsung's first LED backlit LCD monitor is the XL20, which it claims addresses up to 114 per cent of the NTSC colour spectrum. This makes the monitor suited to professionals with colour critical occupations such as pre-press, desktop publishing, photographic and video editing. Users can adjust individual red, green and blue output, while a 10-bit lookup table and 14-bit data processing for managing colour data deliver smooth colour graduation and linearity. The SyncMaster XL20 requires little colour stabilisation time when switched on, and is designed to be less susceptible to sudden failure or burnout. It features a colour calibrator that can be attached to the screen and used to measure colour output. With a colour profile installed in the software, users can expect consistent colour reproduction throughout their document workflow, ensuring colours are the same when either printed or displayed on-screen. Also included with the XL20 is a detachable monitor hood to block out ambient light and reduce stray reflections. Designed to integrate with an existing workstation, the XL20 is equipped with analogue and digital support, a USB 2.0 hub and a height adjustable stand with auto pivot function to work in either landscape or portrait modes.
