APC Smart-UPS RT 15kVA

APC claims its latest UPS system will appeal to IT professionals managing server rooms, server closets and small to medium datacentres housing high density and critical applications. When implemented together, Smart-UPS RT products can help protect Power over Ethernet (PoE) equipment investments against power overloads, outages, surges and spikes. Key features include a high density design in a 12U size to save space, flexible electrical configuration of 1:1, 3:1 or 3:3 input/output wiring, a convertible form factor for rack or tower installations, hot-swappable batteries and system fans, and dual mains input that increases availability by allowing the UPS to connect to two separate power sources. The unit also has an intelligent 3kW charger that automatically detects the addition of Smart-UPS battery packs and adjusts charging voltage for faster recharge times. It is bundled with management solutions that allow UPS configuration and diagnoses both remotely and on-site. It also has an LCD display, field replaceable receptacle panels and a removable wiring tray.

Western Digital My Book Studio Edition II

The My Book Studio Edition II is a high-performance dual-drive storage system designed to seamlessly work with Mac computers and blend of power savings and high performance. Available in capacities of 1TB and 2 TB, the eco-friendly dual-drive uses WD's GreenPower hard drives for power savings and cool and quiet operation and is aimed at creative professionals, workgroups and small offices. The new storage system has four interfaces including FireWire 400/800, eSATA and USB 2.0, is factory-shipped in RAID 0 (Striped) configuration [RAID 1 (Mirrored) configurable], and consumes approximately one-third less power than a standard dual-drive external storage system, the vendor claims. Having eSATA or FireWire 800 interfaces combined with RAID 0 (Striped) means the storage system is appropriate for fast, smooth video editing, rendering complex 3D objects or special effects and saving huge blocks of data in quick time, WD claims. Users get a five-year limited warranty, automatic and continuous backup software, a capacity gauge to view how much space is available on the system, drive management features including automatic power-up, Safe Shutdown, LED status and activity lights. Its user serviceability also allows the storage system's owner to open the enclosure and replace the drive inside. The My Book Studio Edition II will also work with Windows Vista/XP and 2000.
