Wavelink expands relationship with Polycom and signs two new vendors
Communications distributor, Wavelink, has made a rash of new vendor signings as it seeks to broaden its portfolio and offer partners new solutions.
Last week, Wavelink expanded its partnership with Polycom beyond the product range offered by the IP vendor’s subsidiary, SpectraLink.
Previously Wavelink was focused on the SpectraLink Wi-Fi wireless voice solutions. It now has access to Polycom’s other voice products, including its range of SoundPoint IP desk phones as well as IP and analogue SoundStation voice conference phones.
The distributor has also signed with Digium, an IP PBX vendor, and Meru, a vendor of 802.11 WLAN solutions.
Wavelink director, Jonathan Ordman, said both new vendors were sourced on their links to Polycom.
“The new vendors give us bundling opportunities, and have close associations with Polycom. Both Meru and Digium are new vendors in Australia, so the solutions we can offer are unique to the market,” Ordman said.
The new relationships are an attempt by Wavelink to reposition the company, and move into newer fields, as dictated by the evolution of the industry, he said.
“We’re expanding into the IT and IP channel and attempting to mix and match products to offer enterprises total wireless and fixed solutions,” Ordman said. “The relationship with Polycom also opens up potential opportunities for the future, such as video conferencing.”
Wavelink is not looking for further vendor signings at the moment as it was keen to maintain a portfolio of non-competitive vendors.
“We are a value-adding distributor, and the products from our vendors complement one another, so our partners can get a total solution from us,” Ordman said.
