ASG wins piece of WA govt services deal
Perth-based service provider, Amcon Solutions Group (ASG), has won a multi-million dollar share of a 10-year Shared Corporate Services project being implemented by the WA Government. The total project is worth $67 million.
ASG expects to supply half the staff for the services component with Oracle supplying the remainder as well as HR, financials and payroll software.
The ASG slice was significant in several ways, according to CEO, Geoff Lewis.
"It's a good revenue base for us but strategically it's important as our first win in the government's Shared Corporate Services Project," he said. "It will give us valuable intellectual property for other similar state government tenders."
ASG has gained staff with Oracle skills via its acquisitions of Assist and Exceed during the past 12 months. It also plans to bid for outsourced managed services that are the subject of another recently announced WA government tender, Lewis said.
Similar Shared Corporate Services projects were expected in the Eastern states, he said, and ASG now earned two thirds of its revenues from this area.
WA Treasurer, Eric Ripper, said the project signing was a major milestone, which would see more than 100 Government agencies consolidate their back-office functions into three shared service centres in a bid to reduce waste and inefficiency.

Transcript of Gates speech, and a Q&A at World Economic Forum in Davos, SwitzerlandAs you all may know, in July I'll make a big career change. I'm not worried; I believe I'm still marketable. I'm a self-starter, I'm proficient in Microsoft Office. I guess that's it. Also I'm learning how to give money away.
