Resellers wanted for new SMB directory

Julia Talevski 20 December, 2006 12:05:14

The founders of a new IT directory for SMBs are on the hunt for resellers and integrators to sign up to the service.

The biztechguide.com.au guide is designed to help SMBs gain a better understanding of technology and access to providers. The website will kick off on January 29. Resellers and IT providers will be able to sign up for free from January 8 - 26.

Business Technology Guide managing director, Mark Norris, developed the guide. He said he wanted to ease some of the problems SMBs faced when trying to find a technology provider.

"The aim is to inform and educate SMBs on how to use technology to solve their existing problems, overcome new challenges and grow their business," Norris said.

The site is made up of 20 main categories, including servers and networking, office and remote connectivity, wireless and mobile computing, and Internet and data security. There are 80 technology categories all up.

Features include a locator tool, where SMBs can search for a solution provider or reseller in their local area. Users are also given access to its IT guide fortnightly newsletter.

Using the free listing, providers can specify their specialisations as well as target markets, such as small business, government and education. Norris said they would be given access to a management portal to update information and can also be featured across multiple categories. An advanced listing option for $150 a year also includes access to site statistics.

"It is a good way for providers to evaluate the quality of leads," Norris said. "They can also submit whitepapers, which we link to their website and helps them get their message across better."

He hopes to sign up about 4000 resellers and solution providers nationally to the site before it goes public.
