Mitel®, the provider of unified communications for the real world, has released two new business grade cordless phones that extend the capabilities of the popular Mitel 5330 and Mitel 5340 IP phones.

The Mitel Cordless Handset and Cordless Headset are expansion options for the 5330 and 5340 IP phones which are SIP compatible, and work with the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platforms (ICP).

The two new cordless sets use DECT wireless technology, and are integrated with all phone functions. Designed as optional expansion modules that can be fitted at any time, the Cordless Headset and Cordless Handset fit discretely inside either a 5330 or 5340 IP phone, and include inbuilt battery charging docks.

The Mitel Cordless Handset is shaped like a normal desk phone handset. Fitting into the standard Mitel handset cradle, the Cordless Handset allows the user to move freely up to 100 metres around their office while receiving calls. The unit includes several control buttons, making it easier to answer calls, initiate a phone call, and adjust call volumes. It also enables the user to auto dial a preprogrammed phone number when off-hook on either the handset or headset.

To supplement the Cordless Handset, Mitel has released a fully integrated Cordless Headset solution for 5330 and 5340 IP phones. The Cordless Headset is a comfortable over-the-ear headset with a noise cancelling microphone. The solution includes a charging cradle, with typical talk time for a single charge being approximately 9 hours. Complete integration of the cordless functionality with the desk phone means that calls can be answered without a handset lifter.

Gwilym Funnell, Managing Director of Mitel Australia commented, “Business people no longer want to be permanently chained to their desks. Our new cordless technologies are quick and easy to install, and help employees to be more productive while they move around the office.”

Availability: Both products are available immediately.

The Mitel Cordless Handset has an Australian list price of $325 inc GST, and a New Zealand list price of $355.

The Mitel Cordless Headset has an Australian list price of $468 inc GST, and a New Zealand list price of $510.
