Compaq (high-end/data centres)
Ideal for service providers, telcos and other space-constrained data centres, Compaq's lightweight UPS R3000 XR provides more value in less space (2U) by utilising a new transformer-less technology. The unit continually conditions and regulates power without using the battery as well as incorporating enhanced battery management technology, which doubles battery service life. Bundled power management software allows easy configuration, management and control. In the event of a power failure, it initiates a graceful shutdown of the operating system and prioritises shutdown of connected devices with three independently controlled load segments. The R3000 XR has a service list price of $3,660 (inc GST).

APC (network environments)
APC has expanded its Smart-UPS line with the Smart-UPS Rack-Mount (RM) 1400/2200/3000 models with extended run (XL). The 3U-high Smart-UPS RM XL units support the power protection needs of rack-optimised servers. Designed to protect networking equipment such as IP gateways and routers, as well as mission-critical applications such as VoIP, the new Smart-UPS range provides additional UPS battery runtime. This enables the UPS to protect a larger range of equipment, while providing additional time for system shutdown in the event of a power outage. This additional runtime has been integrated into the models, while saving rack space. The Smart-UPS RM 1400/2200/3000 cost $1,080, $2,145 and $2,629 (inc GST), respectively. They are sold through Anixter, Express Data, Ingram Micro and Tech Pacific.
