Epson Perfection 2480 and 2580

ARN staff 14 July, 2004 16:47:08

Epson has launched the Perfection 2480 Photo and Perfection 2580 Photo scanners for the home photography market. The scanners have a resolution of 2400 dpi and both use a new micro-lens and matrix CCD which allows for increased scanner resolution without increasing the size of the carriage. The 2580 incorporates a 35mm film loader instead of a transparency unit (TPU), allowing users to scan 35mm stripfilm. The 2480 features a built-in 35mm TPU for scanning film negatives and slides. Its TPU supports six frame stripfilm and two mounted slides. Both scanners include a USB 2.0 interface for PCs and an onboard ASIC chip for processing scans. The bundled Epson software includes a colour restoration function that can restore the colour in faded photos and a black and white photo restoration function which can restore monochrome photos. Available now. Contact Epson for distributor details.

RRP: 2480 - $299; 2580 - $349
