EMC refreshes storage lineup
Storage vendor, EMC, has enhanced its major storage systems to include higher capacities, greater energy efficiency and partner-friendly installation features.
The product refresh includes the launch of a high-end Symmetrix DMX-4 storage system and enhancements to its mid-range Clariion array, its Celerra network-attached storage (NAS) box and its content-addressable Centera storage system.
EMC managing director Australian and New Zealand, David Webster, singled out the Celerra system as the product of choice for resellers.
"We are seeing the channel move towards a converged IP storage and IP network system," he said. "This product is right for the channel because it allows resellers to take one product to service three sectors; virtualisation, fibre channel and IP."
The new Celerra NS20 and the Celerra NS40 systems support NAS, iSCSI and fibre channel storage area network (SAN) connectivity, and are compatible with Unix, Linux and Microsoft operating systems.
Webster said the Celerra NS20 and NS40 would be matched with new training and service options, as well as a three-hour online certification course. Coupled with EMC's Celerra Startup Assistant software, Webster said these products were positioned perfectly for resellers as they can go from power up to production in as little as 15 minutes.
"They will be hot in the channel because they satisfies both reseller business needs and customer performance needs," he said. The new storage systems will all be available in August.
