What's new from: Sony, Proview, Acer, AG Neovo

Sony

With the release of its stylish X Series LCD monitors, Sony has gone for high specs coupled with affordability. For superior definition, the 15-inch and 18-inch monitors have a contrast ratio of 400:1 and 300cd/m2 luminance, while the 17-inch has a 400:1 contrast ratio and 280cd/m2 luminance. The 15-inch screen features VGA and DVI-D input, while both the 17 and 18-inch models include triple inputs (2x VGA, 1x DVI-D), allowing either analog or digital signals. All monitors in the X Series have inbuilt speakers.

RRP: 15-inch SDMX52 - $1,199; 17-inch SDMX72 - $1,999; 18-inch SDMX82 - $2,599.

Proview

Proview's BM568 15-inch LCD display has traded high-end specs for a major cost benefit. It combines 1024x768 at 75Hz, 200 resolution, cd/m2 luminance, and a 350:1 contrast ratio, with 40-watt power consumption. The screen has a viewing angle of 60 degrees horizontal and 45-50 degrees vertical and inputs VGA.

Acer

The Acer AL532 15-inch LCD features a slim 17mm aluminium bezel design, a solid metal base for stability and a super-high contrast ratio of 500:1 for sharper image and greater picture detail. Other features include 0.297mm dot-pitch and a maximum resolution of 1024x768dpi at 75Hz.

RRP: $977 (inc GST) includes a three-year warranty on monitor and power supply and a one-year warranty on backlight.

AG Neovo

AG Neovo is claiming a world first with its optic glass protective layer, which protects the LCD TFT membrane and enhances image quality and makes it particularly attractive for verticals such as medical, pre-press and graphics. All models in the range - S-15V, X215, X174, and S19 - offer fast response times (10ms/15ms) and feature VGA, Composite, and S-Video inputs. Premier models support DVI digital standard, and priority switch between concurrent multimedia functions - data, video, PC, and Internet applications. The models feature high-resolution specifications, 500:1 colour ratios and wide viewing angles.
