Microsoft weighs in on VoIP
The ramp up of VoIP continued last week as Microsoft added to the technology with new products and services. It also announced strategic alliances with Amdocs, AT&T and Sylantro Systems.
Microsoft's goal is to provide VoIP providers with tools and services for delivering new integrated products to the industry, with its primary offering being the Connected Services Framework service delivery platform (SDP). This will allow telecommunications operators to aggregate, provision and manage converged communications services for their subscribers, regardless of network or device, according to Microsoft.
The strategic alliance with AT&T connects a global IP network with Microsoft's Connected Services Framework. Microsoft and Amdocs signed a letter of intent to jointly develop, market and deliver products. Microsoft and Sylantro will develop and market enhanced VoIP solutions for telecommunications providers.
