Greater uptake in A/NZ

The A/NZ market tends to mirror the US quite a bit so the take up here has been stronger than across Asia-Pacific, according to IBM's Dean Janjic. As a percentage of everything IBM sells in the x86 space, blades make up a lot more than 5 per cent - probably closer to 20 per cent but changing quarter to quarter, he said. That number is hockey-sticking but, from a vendor perspective, the focus is to drive the blade market because of the benefits it offers around space, power and cooling. "People have been buying the traditional rack-based servers for about the past 15 years," Janjic said. "Now we are seeing a true paradigm shift where you can fit more things into less space and share the infrastructure."
